When all of your avocados become ripe at the same time, one needs to get a little creative in the kitchen. Avocado lovers unite! It’s crazy how you wait, wait, wait for your avocados to ripen, and then suddenly there are a half dozen that need to be eaten within a day. Phew! Luckily, avocados are an awesome source of omega-9 fatty acids – plus, their creamy, filling and satisfying! Avocados are a go to at my house.
There are so many ways to eat avocados! You can pump up your salad with diced chunks of avocado. Crush them up to make a delicious spread on toast. Chop them in half and sprinkle with hemp hearts for a crunchy (and, may I say very fancy) side vegetable to any meal. Or, slice them onto your sandwich. But, my all time favourite is to mash them into a guacamole.
Do you love to slurp or scoop your smoothies? If you’re in love with smoothie bowls, or like eating smoothies with a spoon, then go light on the splash of water in this recipe. If you prefer to gulp your smoothies down, add more water to make it easier to devour.

RECIPE: Avocado, Strawberry, Lime Smoothie
1 ripe avocado
1 cup of frozen organic strawberries
Splash of Water
In a blender, toss in the strawberries and a splash of water. Cut your avocado in half. Remove the pit. Scoop out the delicious soft inside and add it to the blender. Cut your lime in half (you may want to roll it on the counter first to make it easier to juice). Squeeze all of that lime’s sensational juice into the blender. If you like, use a spoon to get some of the pulp out and add to the blender too. If you want to jack up the nutritional value of your smoothie, then toss in a handful of spinach leaves (or a scoop of greens powder). You can also add in probiotics or more protein (e.g. powder, nut milk or greek yogurt depending on your dietary preferences). Blend this up until smooth. Then, go ahead and slurp, scoop or gulp it down!
